Ending The Cycle of Violence – Educational Offer

In December we received this letter from one of our educational video customers – Michael DeLeon of Steered Straight. He, like all of us in United States, was reeling from the shootings at Newtown, Connecticut.

Dear Chariot,

Since last week, the East Coast, as likely the entire country as well, has been chaotic. Everyone is trying to find answers for this insanity. Violence took on a new face last week and when we think the unimaginable can’t happen, we find that it does.

I would like to recommend your Ending The Cycle of Violence curriculum to others who work in the field of violence prevention for youth. This video series has been both informative and eyeopening to the youth we serve. We have used the curriculum with youth groups throughout the state of New Jersey. The program is a cautionary lesson to youth and they have not only watched and listened with interest, participated fully in our lessons, but talked about it with parents, guardians and friends.

His letter prompted us to think about how we can support the country’s renewed commitment to address the impact of violence on our youth.

We all know how strapped schools and agencies who work with our youth are today. Funds to provide much needed violence prevention resources are hard to come by.
