This Precious Life: The Life and Passing of David Petit is a short subject by Victress Hitchcock, director of Blessings and When the Iron Bird Flies, that introduces us to David Petit, the husband of Lama Tsultrim Allione through film and interviews made just weeks before his sudden and unexpected death in 2010. We meet him with his horses and in his gardens and he shares his profound understanding of life….and death….in an intimate and straightforward way. The film concludes with his traditional Buddhist cremation held at Tara Mandala within a month of the interviews which were originally recorded for the feature documentary When the Iron Bird Flies. This is a moving tribute to the amazing magical man who helped bring Tara Mandala Retreat Center to fruition.
This March/April, the 15 minute film will be shown as a short subject at screenings of Feeding Your Demons: The Life and Work of Lama Tsultrim Allione, a one hour documentary, filmed and directed by Jaap Verhoeven, which highlights Lama Tsultrim’s early life, her discovery of Tibetan Buddhism, and her four years as a nun in India. Lama Tsultrim shares her journey of raising children, personal challenges, and her unceasing quest to bring the sacred feminine to light. The film also features the creation of Tara Mandala, the retreat center Lama Tsultrim founded in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and the development of the ground-breaking Feeding Your Demons™, a 5-step process that enables ones to compassionately engage with one’s demons, rather than continue the cycle of struggle and suppression.
Screenings will be at the Clyde Theater in Whidbey Island ( March 30), The Rafael Film Center in San Rafael ( April 10) and the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder ( April 18). For more, check out our screenings page – www.chariotvideos.com/screenings/
