“…very moving, so intimate and so courageous… say’s a lot about the Buddhist and Shambhala way of life and death.”
~ David I. Rome – Senior Fellow, the Garrison Institute
DENISE: Circle of Blessings is a documentary about the last three months of Denise Thornton’s life. At age 49, Denise was diagnosed with stage-four, metastasized cancer. During the remaining three years of her life, Denise not only defied her initial prognosis of six months to live, she embraced her illness as a spiritual path and as a way of sharing her life with others.
In this 60-minute film we are included in the circle of blessings with family and friends as Denise shares her thoughts about her Buddhist faith, about love, letting go and dying. A brave and charismatic woman, Denise was a unique individual with much to teach about living and dying with grace and dignity.
An inspiration to those of use facing the many ways that death enters our lives, this film contains courageous and candid, conversations with family, friends, and caregivers as each of them confronts their role in the life and death process. It was Denise’s gift to intimately include nearly everyone she knew in her process of dying – which was equally a process of truly being alive.
